ACTION ALERT
As you may recall, a few weeks ago, the leadership of the Kentucky House of Representatives almost called HB 505 for a vote after being advised that with the amendment, counselors no longer opposed it. This of course was not the case—we still believe the language of HB 505 is not in counselors’ best interests and your input to the House leadership resulted in HB 505 not coming to a vote on the floor. Thanks to everyone who took action in opposition of HB 505!
There still remains a strong possibility and potential for the intent of HB 505 to be passed in the Senate hidden as an amendment to some Senate bill. To keep this from happening during the chaos that will reign when the Session reconvenes on Monday, April 14th, and closes on Tuesday, April 15th, please send your message of opposition to the leadership in the House and Senate.
Please send your email of opposition to your Senator and Representatives—
For the leadership to the Senate: Jody.Richards@lrc.ky.gov
For the leadership in the House: Rocky.Adkins@lrc.ky.gov
To any senator or house member, use the format above and replace it with their respective names: first.last@lrc.ky.gov
You can also call 1-800-372-7181 and request that your message go to ALL members of the Senate and House. You might wish to say: “I am a counselor and I ask that you not allow the intent of HB 505 to be added as an amendment to a Senate Bill.”
This will only take a few minutes and your efforts can once again make a significant difference.
Thanks for your help in this issue vital to you and the counseling profession in Kentucky!
Dr. Bill Braden,
